Exploding MarineLand Heaters!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have been using Ebo Jagers for years and years. when I first started coming on the internet forums regularly, I heard the hype about Stealth heaters.

but I was reluctant to switch because I have never really been a fan of any of Marineland's products.

they bought out Perfecto Aquariums and didn't improve anything - still thinner glass than Aqueon/Oceanic, still thinner seals, still flimsy cross bracing. :(

their penguin/emperor filters are not that great compared to comparable Hagen Aquaclears

and now people are having all kinds of stealth issues..

when Marineland begins to improve their product line, then maybe I will trust their products. until then, its Aqueon/Ebo Jager's/Eheims or Rena's and Aquaclears for me..

the only product that they put out that I must say I am impressed with are the 'deep dimension's' line of 3 foot wide tanks.

their build quality appears to be very good, right up there with Aqueon/Oceanic,

however, they also cost a small fortune, so thats probably why..

Thanks for the heads up.

I use Rena and Eheim heaters - the former because it attaches to your canister intake, and the latter because, well, Eheim rocks.

I am running two of the Rena intake heaters and have been happy with them. They can run dry and not burn up, no glass to break, look better in the tank and reduce clutter in the tank. If you have a black background they almost disappear. My other heaters are glass in an external inline heater canister. I am not a fan of glass heaters in tanks. Big fish like to break them.

I agree. I used them years ago to save money. Didn't work because all my 350's ended up in the trash. After many years of avoiding them I recently bought a Marineland portable hang on canister. I use the micron filter for polishing and when I want some extra water flow. So far I have been happy with it. It seams to be better made than the 350 filters, time will tell.

I have Marineland Visitherm Stealths in all my tanks (10 tanks-5 with 2 heaters-the larger tanks-75 gals or more)and have had no problems what-so-ever. A few have been operating for 6 years now. Two of my tanks include fish that regularly give the heaters a beating and still...no problems.

I just returned 2x 300 watt Stealths, one was dead out of the box and the other failed within a month by not heating up to the correct temp.
Also had 2x 250 watt that failed and were only a year old. Have returned all and supposed to be shipping new ones. One of these just died and the other stuck and was overheating the system.

i have been using marineland stealths for about 8 months now and every now and again i get an electric shock (tingling feeling) whenever i have cuts on my fingers only sometimes though presumably due to the heaters only being on sometimes last i checked though when i unplugged the heaters i didn't get a shock and when i plugged em back in i did.

when i save up enough money im replacing them with ebo jagers personaly i beleive the only technology that actualy works anymore is german made.
