so ive been reading everything i can get my hands on in regards to keeping Fahaka.

does anyone have experience with these guys?
any personal pointers?
any personal favorite sites for info?

im not a newbie, but i dont think im what you'd call 'advanced' either. been fishkeeping for about 8 years now...started with comets in a 10 gallon (we're all noobs at first, right?), and have most recently had a CA Cich tank.

this will be my first puffer and i guess id just like to say hi, and ask for any advice you can give to the new puffer keeper.

love this forum, and thanks for any help MFK

More specific questions will help. We have a plethora of knowledgeable Fahaka and mbu keepers, as well as many other puffers. Fahakas are very aggressive generally, and need big tanks. Hard shelled foods, and lot of protein are good. Water parameters are important as well, so be ready to be running overdrive on water changes. What size tank do you have to work with?

You didn't ask the question spedific to your subject line. The answer is no way, BTW.

FAHAKA PUFFERS

GIANT PUFFER SPECIES

Fahaka puffers are GREAT they are my favorite fish.
No tankmates
lots of water changes
room to grow
you will not regret getting one.:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

In a short time that tank won't be large enough.

im finding that out :/

going to try to find a 100+ gallon at a decent price in my area

a 100-120 is acceptable, isnt it? at least thats what im reading

it will just be the 1 fahaka, and whatever shrimp/snails/clams etc i decide to put in

120 is the minimum tank size. Didn't you read the profile I linked you to?

yes, ive read everything. thank you

but spitting out a gallon amount as a required tank size doesnt make sense to me

a 200 gallon tank loaded with gravel and decorations might hold 120 gallons of water, maybe less if using big rocks, etc.

it would be easier to understand if given the space needed and the amount of water needed to be able to handle the load

Those profiles are no just "spit out". The Puffer Forum consists of some of the top, long-term pufferkeepers in the world (some keeping them for 50+ years), who put those profiles together. I think you will find the same responses here too. A 70-100g will have even less water volume, to dilute the wastes.
