Fahaka in a community tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Homer... Yeah I have heard the horror stories as well and I smile a hawk when I am at home but fingers crossed if I can get the other tank mates to full size (about another 6 months) then they most should be able to look after themselves. Well that's the theory anyway.

The fahaka has been with some of the catfish and the smaller dither since I first got her and I have slowly added fish as the tank has been upgraded. The final tank with all occupy ages has been up and running for 4 months now.

Ohh yes the fahaka gets cockles in shells twice a
Week, live crabs and super worms for deal with the beak issues.

This was the tank yesterday.

Beautiful! Another fish on my wish list I may keep one day.

Thanks this is Kind of my dream tank and I been luck to be able to get so many predators in there without any issues!

Nice fahaka, Ive seen a large one mixed with peacock bass and irwini cat (huge) without any issues. luck of the draw my friends, I had grown out one to 8" and it one mean sob..

Thanks, like you said I am fairly certain large (as big or bigger than the fahaka) predatory tank mates make for a stable dynamic.

Well it's still running without any issues, all the fish are happy, health and growing well. So all you harbingers of doom... Bring a book.. You might have a long wait.

I didn't know you had a jag in there, otherwise that would've been my first pick!!!!

I was thinking of doing something similar. Do you think getting it to work w/ a Marble Gar, Tire Track eel, Senegal bichir, pleco, and 1-2 oscar? What fish didn't work for you specifically? I was thinking of putting them in a grow out tank then moving them to a 150gal tank. Any advice on looking at the Puffer before you buy it. Also, what's the stocking on the 220?

Mine has started tasting it's mates. Killed the female jewel. Literally took a bite out of her throat as she was defending her fry. Sad.
