i never said they came from brackish. to each his own.
obviously, there are differing ways of caring for a fish. they key to its survival in whatever conditions that its in, is to put it there gradually.

stupid question.................then why are you keeping it in brackish? theres no need, its a 100% FW puff.

In defense of that, there are a few puffer species mostly found in FW, who do best in low-end BW, like the F8 & Redline. Also, the GSP is rarely found in the ocean but does best in high-end BW/SW as an adult, in captivity.

On the other hand, fahakas do best in FW, unless the water conditions are poor. For example, 120g (mininum) tank is recommended for an adult, along with heavy filtration & 50% weekly WC.

If some website says that a certain fish is FW, you will likely find another saying it is brackish and a third saying marine. Pick your experts with care. I won't say bad things about the several hobby sites as there is a lot of useful info on these, but they are not all well researched or authoritative and many do have glaring errors that may sit uncomfortably side by side with excellent advice. The novice cannot be expected to tell the difference between the wheat and the chaff on such sites.

i refuse to beat a dead horse. i do what works for me, and if it works and some1 else asks. I let them know what i did. Its up to them to decide on whether or not to use the advice.

i bet your fahaka aint alive anymore

Since this thread is fairly fresh, I would think the fahaka is still alive but I won't bet it'll live longer than one in FW.

I agree there is a lot of misinformation out there. This why I run The Puffer Forum--to put the myths to rest & have a single source of the top group of long-term pufferkeepers in one place, for the best pratical info!

Earlier in this thread a 125 gal tank was suggested as a minimum tank size, I would just like to kow what the preferred tank size would be, for keeping a Fahaka puffer in for life?
