Would you charge the obese man or make him leave the plane?

  • I would charge at least half fare and endure being squeezed.

I don't fly as much these days as I used to either but when I do I don't want to be encombered by some total stranger's excess body weight.

Hey I'm not that cold and caloused lol.I would feel sorry for the guy too but I have a thing about personal space and making contact with strangers out in public....and dont get me started on people coughing in my direction.I'm almost like a germaphobe when it comes to strange people coughing or sneezing around me.

This is why i will probably never be in this predicament. I dont even like going to HD during the day too many people

I made the mistake of going there this past Saturday....for one thing the store location is now a busy shopping center with all kinds of stores and shops that have been added over the last few years and the place is like Christmas Eve on the weekends.I usually avoid such areas during busy times but we needed some things from there so we went.I observed no less than four near auto collisions just in the parking/drive areas due to people not wanting to wait their turn as if the stores were going somewhere before they got to them. Then you finally make your way inside of HD and have to deal all of the weekend warriors all over the place......yep,I like to go early during the week when hardly anybody is there.

I have flown many times, I’m not what I consider obese (bmi index might disagree, but I’m 5’8 200lbs) I’m larger in the hip area and some of those seats are small enough to cause me discomfort, even the leg room is limited bc my legs are long. I have even seen a 6 foot+ lady that was skinny not fit in the seats properly. So what now? The tall lady should pay for an extra seat so she can turn her knees into another seat area bc she doesn’t fit either? Where does it stop?

There's quite a bit of difference between height and girth when it comes to taking up a seat though. I'm 6'5" tall with a 34-35" inseam so there aren't a whole lot of people that take up more height wise then I do, yet when I fly or go to a seated event, it is mainly me that is inconvenienced by my legs because I have to keep them in a somewhat uncomfortable manner to avoid taken up others leg room next to me. With a very obese person they are basically taking up the people's next to them space in both arms and legs. There's a pretty big difference there IMO.

I'm not uncaring, but it's just the fact of the matter, if you can't fit into one seat then you should have to buy two. Just like a parking space. If you buy a wide truck like a old Humvee, slap some wide Dana60 axles on it with some 44" x 18.5" swamper tires and then can't fit it into one parking space, then you have to feed both meters because you are taking up two spaces. Same basic idea.

If you ride illegal buses this is a joke. I've ridden with a box of frozen meat on my lap because the driver was making side cash hauling cargo, on a folding chair in the aisle of a school bus, even on the fender bump of an E350 (aka old Ford 12 passenger van) with luggage piled on me. Seriously you're complaining about a fat guy?
