Also like goin for the rare cichlids that get let loses in the canals:irked:

my favorite fish is whatever is bitting my line at the moment
my current target species however are carp and sacramento pikeminnows

you might know of them as squawfish, they're really neat and can get as large as 3', although my largest was about 14~16". they're one of the few native species of fish in CA that are really doing well but are unfortunately commonly thought of as trash fish http://www.thejump.net/id/more-fish/sacramento-pikeminnow.jpg imo they're fairly similar to trout. there is another species, now extinct in CA, called the colorado pikeminnow that can get up to 6' long, here's a pic of an old mounted one http://www.fishing-worldrecords.com/relaunch/icons2/images/colorado%20pikeminnow%20record.jpg

I have to comment on this one. I come from a poor chilhood and redneck step father so fishing was my past time. I once held the record for small mouth bass in the Gap Mts. If I remember correctly it was either 14 or 15 inches I do not remember what it weighed but I soon broke that record but it was out of season. FW trout, rocks, SMB, LMB, Cats, stripers and BG are what I remember going for most but I have always wanted to go for Pikes or a muskee(sp). I now really want to own a gar. As for SW fishing seabass, flounder, drum, tuna, but my favorite SW fish is shark. I love that fight!!! My best friend and I brought in a 3 foot hammerhead shark in really shalow water once. It was the first time I had ever seen one face to face. I have not been fishing for a very long time so I was reliving some of the good times so for the long rat.
