I like to go fishing for:
leopard shark
sevengill shark
lingcod
rock cod
Stripped bass
unfortunately some of us live in the middle of corn fields, and cant fish for sharks :( if i could i would though, sounds like alot of fun. id keep a leopard shark at home if i could catch them.

my friend suggested a fix for my fly rod. the tapered leader had to be cut due to a tangle, so now my poppers just sink. he suggested just using normal monofilament line as the leader, works just as well. gonna go fishing next fall :P

salmons, white sturgeons, carps (fights really well), trout, and catfish.

Louie-

You can catch trout on things other than flies- I don't fly fish (yet) and catch them on worms, minnows, small spoons and spinners, and power bait. Fly fishing is a technique- long pole, different reel, floating line and small bit of cloth, feathers, etc tied to look like bugs. You cast different from spin reel (I can't quite describe it) and move the line differently. You can catch fish other than trout with fly fishing- watched people catch bluegills and small mouth bass at times.

common varieties that bluegill and those types like is the floating popper, makes a pop on the water when you let em fly.

but people also fish for saltwater fish on flys, ive seen tarpon and marlin fishing on flys.

I have seen peacock bass caught on fly rods but that is all I know about it . The rod/ESP the reel look neat
