I went to PetSmart the other day because my sister has a filter that we can only find the packages there. Anyway I was checking out the fish while my mom went to pay and suddenly I hear my sister cry out "There's a fish on the floor!" Apparently a Kenyi cichilid had jumped out of the noncovered tanks and was flopping around. She grabbed it and put it in the first cichilid tank she saw and we asked a staff member to put it where it belonged.

I still find it ridiculous that they don't cover their tanks. Had my sister not seen it it would have died.

lotsa places dont cover tanks lol. actually ive never been to an lfs with all the tanks covered. all my lfs's only cover the monster tanks.

and how do you suggest covering all those tanks?

Uh.. petsmart and petco do have "tops" for their system tanks.... and it was company policy to use them.... =D I would call corporate and notify them of the incident.

EDIT: though it's ben about 6 yrs since I worked for petsmart so they may have changed this policy. and I agree.. tanks need to be covered.. if only to keep the grubby munckin hands and bodies out of the lower tanks ;)

had a person come in once and got 20 goldfish , because we had them for less then a dollar each, she then asks me how many more can i have in a 2 liter vase, i looked at her and put the fish back in the tank and showed her the empty bag, and said, "this many".

that is funny, but a customer shouldn't be treated to an insult like that, other than a frank explanation of the max size for the fishes in question

The guy who came into restock his 55 because some drunk guest poured tequila in the tank to give the fish a drink. He seemed to be in better spirits than I would have been in the situation. Jokingly agreeing with me he needed new friends.

ROFL, "this many" ^agree^ however in it would be better to tell before hand....

Well, I met a "Top-offer" today, you know water gets low and top it off....
Told her to do a WC I think she got the notification so :)....

Also, someone was selling a 75gal for $175, no wait $100 that had 2 Oscars-8" and 3 Pacu-8", oh and a foot long pleco...they stated in their ad Full-grown might only get 1 or 2 more inches.....

LOL, when I see a full grown non-stunted Pacu at 8" I'll give you $100
