Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

I have to kind of rant about this guy. I truly like that he's almost single handedly supporting my fish department, but he's going to end up with a big mess on his hands one day.

He has a 125g tank. Here are the things I remember him purchasing...I ask about this or that fish when he comes in, and indeed they are still alive, except the fronts I think.
At least 6 Blood Parrots
2-3? large angelfish
1 Jaguar
1 Midas
2 large green kissing gouramis
2 large tinfoil barbs
1 4" Jack Dempsey
Then he got onto an African cichlid kick, I know he bought 4 medium sized africans, and maybe 6+ smaller ones?
1 4" Flowerhorn
4 small convicts
2 Frontosa that were an inch or so...I doubt they lasted, I haven't asked
And this week he has come in and bought a 5-6" male convict that attempted to rip apart every fish I put him with, and a 4" texas with a similar story, and two blood parrots.

For the fishies sake, I hope it works..but I can't see it lasting.

i went into a lfs and asked a worker if they had cherry shrimp. she gave me a total "deer in the headlights" look. she said "what?". i said "its a shrimp, a red shrimp". she had no clue that you could keep shrimp in an aquarium. i walked out.

when i was a total newbie, i had an oscar with a bit of HITH. i went to petsmart and the worker convinced me he really had ick. i went along with it. he really had HITH. my fault mostly, but the symptoms i was describing was clearly HITH.


one time i found this huge aquarium store on a trip. i stayed in there for atleast an hour just staring into all the gorgeous tanks. a worker came up and gave me the "if you're not buying anything, leave" speech. i said "gladly" and set down the $90 worth of equipment and food on the floor and left.

i know i have more. gimme time to remember.

edit- remembered another. i was at a lfs that had Oscars marked as "African Goldfish. $30". they were about 1.5" long and clearly having a tough time with HITH.

If you're holding $90 worth of product, why would someone tell you to leave for not buying anything. That story makes no sense.

exactly. i dunno if he didnt realize i was carrying it or what. kid was about my age (17 or 18ish) and was a total tool.

edit- now that i really think about it, it was about 5:00 or 6:00 pm, it may have been closing time and he wanted to make an ass of himself.

I'll go ahead and be the next person to question your stories. A 1.5" oscar with hith? That seems just a bit young to have developed hith. Maybe you were seeing the sensory pits.

they had weird creases near their face that were discolored. something was up.

Naw, I could believe this, I've seen some nasty oscars at pet stores.

right. maybe it wasnt hith, but it was clearly sores.

im a little confused why everyone has to doubt everything i say anyways. maybe i just need 2000+ posts so everyone things im a god or something
