he wanted a columbian shark as well, told him how big they get, and he said 'i dun care its gon be in a big 10 gallun tank' so i made sure he got the sickest, most ich infested one we had (only tank in the store that currently has ich) mildly unprofessional but hey, he shoulda listened
I must say I sold a few ich infested fish to really beligerent customers.. Not proud of it but hey, if you insist on coming in 3 times a month to replace ALL of your fish, refuse to take any advice from me and then go to petsmart when i refuse to sell you more I'm not going to keep dooming healthy fish to your "care"! :irked:

I really enjoyed the "experts" that would bring their water in for testing once a week and base new purchases on the results. Somehow they don't know what a nitrogen cycle is, or exactly what I'm testing for, or why it would matter what the temperature is at, but they'll still tell me how wrong I am when I advise them not to add any fish. "We've added fish when it was that color before and none died for a few weeks!" "Well, I'm tired of how empty it looks after that weird disease killed half of them off, I'll only get 10 though, just in case you're right." Then 5 minutes later I overhear: "I think walmart has those ones too, we can get the rest over there. I'm tired of this girl, she's so rude! No one at walmart has ever told me not to get my fish, ugh."

Can I cry in here? Just out of sheer frustration...some guy came in today and bought two baby angels, a rainbow shark, and two feeder goldfish....for his one gallon bowl. He didn't care, not one bit, absolutely ignored the advice I was throwing at him. I would hope he learns but he said he already tried a few different of combinations of fish from Walmart, so he was trying us to see if our fish are better. :(

right, the problem was that he bought fish from Wal-mart ... not that he's a total moron :screwy:

sorry for you, and those fish ... we feel your pain ...

this made me realize something, i've never seen bettas at a LFS in anything but those little tiny cups. really odd :screwy:

does yours keep them in small tanks or something?

The LFS I worked at/tried to buy is the only place I've seen more than one or 2 in tanks. I was lucky enough to have 80 or so seperate tanks though. I liked it most for showing people they COULD live with other fish. Typically we'd have 20-40 in tanks but then everyone complains that they can't find the bettas and asks why on earth we'd keep them in a tank instead of those cups. Cause, "they're supposed to live in those, aren't they unhappy in tanks??" :wall:

Just remembered though, last time I was in petco (to complain about dying lizards) I overheard 2 employees arguing as I waited. Both it turns out are the "main fish people" at the store.. The guy was catching fish from a tank of dropped off fish. She's naming the different ones she wants. A big comet, some glass cats, some nice jewel cichlids, (all going in the same tank, BTW) then she got mad at him 'cause she "doesn't want that loach, no, throw that loach back!" but he swore she pointed at it and she goes on while he bags them how much she hates loaches.. That "loach" was a 6-7" clown knife. When I pointed this out to the guy he told me they're similar and it doesn't matter since their care is the same. :screwy:

lol... petco is a sh1thole

I was in for some algae wafers, and to see if they ever got some sponge filters in today. They had a ray in with their pond goldfish.

res, especially males are primarily carnivorous i would start feeding primarily shrimp and tilapia in addition to the veggies

they are mostly carnivorous when young. 25% plant matter, 75% meat. as they get older the number reverses 75% plant matter 25% meat.

I know a life is a life...but I feel really bad when some people get certain fish. Those angels were really nice, I'm picky about what angels I accept, you can tell they come from good breeders. Like I had to sell a red severum to someone with a 10g who thought it was a parrotfish (and argued with me about it)... damn it, that fish should have gone to a good fish keeper. :(

Heard someone in Petland talking about his Crocodile today. Yes, Crocodile. I didn't ask. In fact, I left. I had some hope that maybe he was a Herpitologist with a huge enclosure until he told them that the Aquaclear 110 he bought for it was working great. :wall:

Know-it-all's complaining about know-it-all's is a very scary slope.

after buying 5 clown loaches that max at 7" and live for 3 years in 74 degree water and 2 managuense that, and i quote, "will be happy for life in a 29", i listened to a customer ask the age old question, what other fish can i put in my beta bowl. i thought to myself. "yes!, this should be good!" the employee answered a couple of goldfish and some neons would be perfect!
wow they suck.

i worked at a petco and i hate them even more now, the last straw was in our reptile seminar we learned that leopard geckos were amphibians. :(
