you really shouldnt knock all petcos. i work at one, and the people i work with are extremely experienced with animals and we all know our stuff. you shouldnt make an assumption if you have a bad experience at one store out of a chain.

I get much better service at Petco and Petsmart than any of the mom and pop tropical fish stores in L.A. The mom and pops have horrible attitudes, they practically scream that they hate their jobs in the way they treat their fish. Whenever I go to a Petco or Petsmart in Los Angeles, someone is always cleaning the tanks or trying to help customers or trying to make the place look nice. And, as I put on my other thread today, they have a much better tropical fresh water fish selection than any of the many stores I visited today. They had fish that when I called around to other stores and asked about knife fish or dragon fish, the mom and pops had no idea what I was talking about. If it ain't a goldfish or tetra, the mom and pops are lost. But for salt water, mom and pops here are better, of course. Glad that their are Petsmarts and Petcos. Never wanted to buy fish there before, but that was when I didn't live in L.A. Now living here, and that's where the best freshwater fish are.

So i walk into a new lfs and decide to test the workers to know if they pass my "test". I find a jardini and ask one of the kids, (he's probably older than me but im really tall), and ask him what size tank i would need to house him for life. He says and i qoute, "uh... you can never go wrong with a 10g!"

I was at work yesterday and I was working the register. I had just ordered some Sushi for dinner, about $20 worth. I got some assorted sushi/sashimi and a Miso Soup.

I just open it and eat one piece, and this guy walks in and I could tell right away he would have an attitude just from the look on his face. He makes a quick walk around the store and comes up and nastily asks me "Dont you guys sell bones here?", so I point directly behind him to the wall of bones. He looks around and asks for a bag to get stuff by the lb, so I give him one. He then says "How about a bigger one, what am I going to do with this!", so I go to get him the larger bag and my whole tray of sushi fals right on the floor. Not really his fault, it fell when I went to get the bag, but anyway he didnt even say sorry or anything as a normal human would.

So, he gets his bag and loads it up, I put it on the scale, weight it and ring him up. He then quickly grabs the bag and walks out, but it wasnt his bag, he took my Miso Soup! I didnt realize until a few minutes later when I go to eat my soup which wasnt ruined, and I have a bag full of biscuits (A whole $3 worth by the way, which cost me a $20 dinner).

So an hour later the phone rings with a woman, also nasty, saying she sent her husband out for buscuits and he came home with a Miso Soup. She said we handed him the wrong bag. My coworker explained to her that he just grabbed the bag off the counter, we didnt hand him the wrong bag. To top this all of, they wanted us to deliver their $3 worth of biscuits since we inconvenienced THEM! My coworker told them no, and hung up, lol. He showed up 5 minutes before closing with my opened soup and took his bones and left. Soup went right in the trash but I really felt like throwing it at him lol.
