Here's a funny one i heard in one of my LFS. "I think our juvenille tropheus duboisi has ick. See all the white spots all over em! I bout lost it when I heard a worker tell the aquarium manager this.

Here's a funny one i heard in one of my LFS. "I think our juvenille tropheus duboisi has ick. See all the white spots all over em! I bout lost it when I heard a worker tell the aquarium manager this.

I know its mad!

We have a lot of tropheus species in stock at all times, the amount of t. Dubosi youngsters we could sell is ridiculous but we explain that they arent communal and that they loose the spots and go black with a white/yellow bar.

They dont want em then.

I actually prefer the adult colouration.

i was in petsmart last night and decided to get 2 rubber lip plecos for my hap/peacock tank. the lady working was helping this one guy that was setting up his first tank. in his cart he had, 10 gallon tank, whisper filter, fake tree decor, the lady then proceeded to bad hig 2 oscars. the guy asked what to feed them and she replied i don't know, you'll have to look online, but i think i heard you feed them lettuce. after she was done with the first costumer it was my turn, i told her what i wanted and she what size tank and what were they going in with. i told her cichlids and got the whole they'll kill them story. i replied nah they'll be fine, almost laughing. she replied well dont come back when theyre dead and say you should have listened because i'm just gonna say i told you so. i said i wont' and walked away

i would have slipped her this website and told her to look up oscars as she told the person to do online research bet she would have taken the bait and bam she is hooked cause she sounds like a person whos tryin who cares but lack true info

My boss at the pet store I work at is just as terrible.

I put an Alveopora coral that wasn't doing well in my tank into the store tank, which is 90g and nice and dirty for the Alveopora.

Two days later, it's gone. The boss put it in his NEW UNCYCLED 30g sw tank.

He also wants to know why he can't keep the Hippo tang we have in the 30g.

And screw Nemo. Anyone asking for Nemo definitely has no idea of the difference between fresh and salt water.

I nearly lost my temper with a customer today.

A customer asked me to catch him some neons, he said your fish have gone up with a bang havent they? i said yeah but everythings more expensive these days.

So to be polite i said what do you keep?

He said, the sort of fish that you can only dream of

This annoyed me.... i asked him how many tank he has, he said 6 and a koi pond, i said well look mate, i have 6 and a tropical pond, my fish are the fish of your dreams...... gulper cat, lungfish, L # plecos, Peacock bass, its a never ending list.

i bagged him his fish and he left, i felt so insulted

Two guys are in looking at a 56 cube(30x18x24). Asked if that was big enough for three oscars. I say no. So one of them says would the 60 be better because its longer. I say still no. It's a 12 inch tank with fish that can get 14. Says he knows all about them, had them before. Tell him then he knows how messy they are and that the tank is too small. He says that he's not into getting a 150 because that's too expensive. Tell him that with massive filtration and constant water changes he might get away with it for a while but it would be better to go with fewer oscars if your not going with a bigger tank. He replies that he doesn't think that is necessary as he had them before and didn't do any of that. They then left without buying anything. Why do people only want to listen to answers when they are in agreement with the decision already made?

man do i feel your pain this one time when i used to work at the pet store i met this guy so he walks in and goes.... lemme get 100 feeders, so i say to him thats alot of feeders you must have some nice fish and he looks at me laughs and goes i could teach you a few things about fish, i go really? and he says yea i have sharks, so i go really, he goes ah man there mean, so i go which ones he goes there called irredecents... i look at him with a blank look and say you mean these and point to them and he goes yea but mine are way bigger, i was just like w.e so i say o col what size tank, he goes i have 6 in a 40 breeder, but i have more tanks so just to see how dumb he was i said o reallllllllly what else, he goes i have piranha i go really, he said a special rare kind called red pacus there vicious................so i said o really? how many, he said 5 i said o really he goes there a schooling fish, see you petstore guys dont know nothing, said it just like that so i asked what size tank, he goes in this really big 75 gallon bowfront, its a great tank, so i go really i go well il tell you what, those super exotic red belly pacu piranha are on sale in tank number 12 2 for 6 bucks.... here are your fish have a nice day, o and by the way if your super mean pacu like give them sme super mean zucchini and a bigger tank cause those super mean piranha will soon break your tank but you probably knew that already, and by the way those sharks are catfish... but whatever makes you smile bud have a good one and walked into the back room........ what a dummy

had a customer today...im not really making fun of them because they just didnt know, but funny story anyway.

they came in and bought 5 tiger barbs, 1 pleco, and 5 guppies. i asked what size tank they had, and he said a 50 gallon. he then proceeded to walk over to the oscars and asked me to bag one of them for him. i asked if he had another tank to put them in, he said no, but he thought it would look really good in his 50 gal with the other fish he was getting. i said no, and told him about them and all that stuff.

like i said, not trying to make fun of anyone here, it just feels good to teach people new things so they are no longer misinformed.
