So here is my first lfs story, funnily enough it has to do with my fish company I just started, can't tell you the name yet as we are not done with the trademark stuff but we have the name registered in saskatchewan and we have the domain for biz , com, and ca done. When we get the trademark stuff done will let the name out

But I am tryin to rehome the two pacu that I rehomed and I get this email

Though I just had to shake my head, this is exactly the reason why I have decided to start my own lfs

I really dont think that that would be a good deal for this fish since both of them are living in my 180g right now and i rescued them from a 33g and a 55g, and if need be i just bought a 320g which i will rehome them into if i cant find someone with the right size tank

I would suggest going by millenium tanning on vic east by giant tiger so you can get a look at what size they can get to, his tank is 500g

sorry but I can not send ron the black pacu to live in a 55g

I am so fed up with the way so many pet stores have no idea and really are not tryin to get an idea and even worse how they seem to have no wish to really support the desire of the actual hobbiest I decided to do something START A STORE lolololol

I find that in Holland there aren't that many smaller fish places, and the ones that I have found mostly seem to speicalize in African fish.

Anyway, I found this larger chain store and the guy that works there is actually quite a nice guy. I've been in there a few times and he is always really helpful.

What I find funny is the way he was telling my bf and I that Oscars are "killers" and are super vicious fighting fish. Real aggressive types. Naturally I've read about them, know they aren't and are actually just very happy eaters. My bf naturally thinks he will be getting some cool killer fish in our tank.

The best part, he stuck his arm in the tank to show how "aggressive" they were as they all were swimming up to him looking for food.

man do i feel your pain this one time when i used to work at the pet store i met this guy so he walks in and goes.... lemme get 100 feeders, so i say to him thats alot of feeders you must have some nice fish and he looks at me laughs and goes i could teach you a few things about fish, i go really? and he says yea i have sharks, so i go really, he goes ah man there mean, so i go which ones he goes there called irredecents... i look at him with a blank look and say you mean these and point to them and he goes yea but mine are way bigger, i was just like w.e so i say o col what size tank, he goes i have 6 in a 40 breeder, but i have more tanks so just to see how dumb he was i said o reallllllllly what else, he goes i have piranha i go really, he said a special rare kind called red pacus there vicious................so i said o really? how many, he said 5 i said o really he goes there a schooling fish, see you petstore guys dont know nothing, said it just like that so i asked what size tank, he goes in this really big 75 gallon bowfront, its a great tank, so i go really i go well il tell you what, those super exotic red belly pacu piranha are on sale in tank number 12 2 for 6 bucks.... here are your fish have a nice day, o and by the way if your super mean pacu like give them sme super mean zucchini and a bigger tank cause those super mean piranha will soon break your tank but you probably knew that already, and by the way those sharks are catfish... but whatever makes you smile bud have a good one and walked into the back room........ what a dummy

its not bout an lfs but i was in a book store yesterday and found this book on sale
for 1$ and it was about catfish. i was about to purchase the book but i decided to check it first and it was so misinformative like housing a catfish that goes big in a 35 g and just make sure theres a lot of subtrate. i left the book and got the dog grooming book instead which was more expensive but is not misinformative

Ok this shocked me today.

I was putting plants away in the plant tank today and this little kid walks in and starts looking at fish, while i was doing the plants i could see out the corner of my eye the kid coming over to me, the first thing that came out of his mouth was "What the F#@* are you doing?", i thought to myself " Wtf did he really just say that?" so i said "im putting plants away", he said "oh ok" . Then he bent down to look at the feeders under the plant tank and he said " What the F#$@ are these", i just said "feeders" then he started skipping away in a kidish way and i was there shocked.

By the way this kid looked about 10yrs old with a mohawk and freckles, he ran to his mum who was looking at dogs and she was wearing all black with black wristbands and peircings and i just felt sorry for the kid.
