Very true. If I'm making a sale and there is some major problem with the stock people pick, I call them on it. and yes that happens daily and sometimes it just isn't worth the argument because the customer always believes they're right (usually it's easy to pick these types out).
Actually, my last two days at work I had some good experiences with customers. One picked up a ball python and another found a gecko in some house plants at the grocery store and wanted to set up a tank for it. In both cases they took my advice getting everything they needed for the correct care of their animals which was great both in that the animals were likely going to be cared for well, and those were some decently large sales
