that and unless you've worked in a store you have no idea how tiring it gets doing the right thing when explaining to the 9th customer/customer's kids in a row why they can't/shouldn't put ____ fish in with ___ fish even though it worked for their relative/friend in a 10gal.
and yes that happens daily and sometimes it just isn't worth the argument because the customer always believes they're right (usually it's easy to pick these types out).
Very true. If I'm making a sale and there is some major problem with the stock people pick, I call them on it. Sometimes they change their minds, sometimes they don't.

Actually, my last two days at work I had some good experiences with customers. One picked up a ball python and another found a gecko in some house plants at the grocery store and wanted to set up a tank for it. In both cases they took my advice getting everything they needed for the correct care of their animals which was great both in that the animals were likely going to be cared for well, and those were some decently large sales ;)

We had a customer come in wnating to exchange coins for paper, we said yer bring it over, he came over and pulls out tonnes of 5c pieces! and we are all like wtf! he said he had been aoround everywhere to the other shops and they wont exchange them. So we felt sorry for the dude and gave him a lecture about how he should have taken in to a bank, and exchanged the money. He had $11.30 in 5c pieces!

:jaw: If my math is right he had 226 nickels... Did he have a huge bag of them?

i node my head and laugh and he walks away..

great site, brand new stuff every month.

I stopped by the LFS last night to pick up some Seachem Regulator (i think that is what its called anyway...for recharging Prime). Before I checked out I had a look around at the current stock.

I was in there a couple weeks earlier and saw a nice looking gold nugget pleco about 3-4". I didn't get it because it wouldn't be compatible with my current plecos. I walked by the same tank and saw it sitting on the bottom and noticed a white patch on it...my first thought was "glad I didn't buy a diseased fish." Then I look closer and see it has no eyes  it was dead...

Moving along I walked over to their bigger freshwater tanks (not by any means large, but bigger than the standard 10-20 gallon holding tanks). They had a large albino oscar in one, that just looked absolutely horrible. I think I actually cringed when i saw it. Its entire body looked like it was wasting away (it was very "patchy"...what looked like crevaces all over its body...im not familiar with HITH disease but thats what I'd expect it to look like (except over the whole body...).

Moving along I looked at the tank underneath that one. It had about a 5" Pacu in there (no doubt a return from a customer, because this store sells 2" Pacus). It was labelled as "Large Pacu". At this point I just grabbed the seachem regulator and checked out :grinno:

I may be getting my job back at the pet store... when they let me go due to budgetary concerns, they had no 'fish guy'... now they want me to fill out an application because they now have no 'fish guy'... go figure.

Hopefully more stories!
