I had the unfortunate task to try and explain to a know-it-all black woman why she couldn't put just any heater in her tank. I added "black" because if you've ever met one of these you understand that there is a difference. She was looking at me like "Oh no, you are not fooling me boy." as I tried to tell her why she could not rely on a heater made for a ten gallon tank in her a 55. I finally gave up after she told me I wasn't going to "pull that one" on her and just let her buy whatever she wanted to. The cheapest one.

Then there was the delightful couple that came in with their two daughters. They seemed like really wonderful people and were thrilled with the angelfish I sold them. Three hours later into that shift my boss was yelling at me because I told some people they could keep an angel fish in a vase. I looked around the corner and there they were. They failed to mention the vase.

Lets see.... Oh, the people that used to tell me that they didn't need to buy the betta food because the fish could eat the roots from the plant that would be in the decorative vase it was living in. Remember that fad?

While cleaning the baby red belly tank "You put your hands in there ?!?"

Working in pet stores was where I began to learn just how stupid my fellow man was.

What's the difference between a know-it-all black woman and a regular black woman? What's the difference between a know-it-all white woman, asian woman, hispanic woman or any other know-it-all woman versus a regular woman? I think the answer is that one thinks she knows it all and the other does not think she knows it all. Are there any other differences?

Trust me, if you have met a sterotypical know-it-all black woman before then you know what I'm talking about. They have a way about themselves which is all their own. If I've offended you somehow I do apologize but I don't take back anything I said. There is a difference. Pm me if there is a problem I'm really not trying to ruffle your feathers here.

Your story probably could've held it's own without the racial interjection, but you assumned that your phrase: "Know-it-all black woman," would paint a picture and make it bigger than life. You created an image for the reader. Please understand that you can't use stereotypes on the world-wide web without some sort of resistance. You can sit at your dinner table and tell this story but you can't put it on the web. Also, remember that it was stereotypes of jews and blacks that allowed for the Holocaust and slave trade to be considered acceptable. That's how the perpetrators of these atrocities justified their actions. They basically dehumanized both groups with stereotypes. And, it worked. Society bought in to the notions. Your innocent story has a deadly undertone with an ugly history. It's divisive and not very healthy. I'm not upset or even angry. I'm a bit surprised. It's 2009. I thought we got pass the mindset of the 17 and 1800's and early 1900's. I want to shine a little light upon you.
