Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't work at an LFS, but I do spend a lot of time at mine and overhear a lot of conversations.

What I find really funny is that when people are quizzed about the size of their tank, no one gives a straight answer. People who say they have a big/huge tank invariably have a 10-20 gal, and people who respond that their tank 'isn't huge' or 'not big enough' usually have a 100+ gal tank.

Maybe it's just an Australian thing...

Lol, I love the imaginary box people make with their hands, ohh about this big... The people that buy backgrounds for their tank almost never know even the gallons. And some people do, but people rarely measure...I know the standard sizes, but people go oh yeah I need a background for a 48g bowfront... yeah okay, I'll get right on that.

In my experience, when a customer wants a large growing or aggressive fish, but can't tell you how big their tank is, it's not nearly big enough.

I work in a veterinary clinic/ petstore and i get all the usual people wanting to stuff 15 goldfish into a bowl and people who dont even know what water conditioner is, but this story, although not fish related, is definately the saddest one ive experienced.

I answer the phone
Lady: Hi, does your vet see birds?
Me: Yes sometimes, what was the problem?
Lady: Well my dog was playing with our budgie this morning and ripped its leg off. Is it in pain?
Me: ..............ugh, yes.
Lady: Oh.. Well is there anything i can give it?
Me: I think youll need to bring it in so we can dress the wound and make sure it doesnt get infected.
Lady: But there isnt a wound, the legs gone.
Me:......... If you move the feathers aside you will see there is a wound on its body.
Lady: Oh ok.

Idiot.:shakehead

People are so retarded. You shouldn't be allowed to have pets if you don't know the first thing about them.

I know, i couldnt believe what she said. "My dog ripped my birds leg off, is it in pain?" OF COURSE ITS IN PAIN YOU MORON!!
I was ranting about that for days

Ugh! Every single day my faith in humanity dies a little bit. I used to work at a vet's office and some of the clients would make me mad for days.

The LPS I work at is across the street from a little gift store that recently started selling these atrocious little dwarf frog kits. They're billed as being completely self-sufficient, and even have a pamphlet explaining how within the 4" cube "aquarium", the "living gravel", bamboo, and frog live harmoniously together and need no maintenance at all. Maybe you guys have seen them before, but I was just appalled.

Anyway, it's been hugely frustrating to me, since I'm the one who's constantly dealing with customers who don't understand why their frog died. They come in asking for a new frog, or new bamboo, or wondering where they can buy "living gravel". And for most of those customers, trying to explain the setup does NOT work is practically impossible. I suppose I should be happy that our dwarf frog sales have skyrocketed, but it's too frustrating.

LMAO on the invisible box. Yea i guess we would guess we have a tank this big....

Me: OOO so you have a 150 gallon?

i don't know points to a tank,"Oh this one!"

40gallon breeder.....

And the infamous my tank is about 7 feet 4 feet wide and 4 feet tall. Ah so you have a 800 gallon about? Something bigger than this right? ... point to a 100 gallon... o no thats HUGE!
