Cmon lets see a story where you guys cant take it and increase your tone saying "Now look here you idiot.." like there's one post not far back...

Heh, I agree. That was one of the best. :grinno:

That's how I'd be, but then again I probably wouldn't have the job for long. :headbang2

I definately admire the patience some of you show. :)

so lady comes in with dead fish. the employee is like oh lord not again. as she makes her way back to the fish room the guy at the counter explains that this lady has been back at least once a week with dead fish. she actually started waiting untill they all died to bring them in to save a trip. anyway the employees couldnt figure it out. tank has been up for 3 years. water changes once monthly, her nitrates were high but not horrible. i have seen worse. but they kept exchanging her fish because they couldnt figure out what was wrong. i started asking her more in depth questions why they bagged up her soon to be dead pets and she then explained to me that if the replacement fish wasnt free she wouldnt be in the hobby anymore but she only thinks they are free because they sell her sick fish. its a very expensive hobby if i were ever to get into it. (chuckle) and then she tells me that to save money she started using PAPER TOWELS as filter media. i just looked at her dumbfounded. i didnt know what to say. the guy at the counter almost dropped her bag of fish. the manager then looked at me and smiled and said thank you for helping us figure that out. the lady was told then that was bad and she needed to replace the paper towel with a filter cartridge. she then said "yeah yeah anything to get me to spend more money."

turns out this had been goin on for like a month but non of the employees could get it out of her.

I over heard something funny/disturbing at a LFS store recently.

I live in a town with several colleges, so for weeks..new college students are all over the place using their parents money to furnish their party houses

So one of these college students was in the LFS...and she wanted a fish as a decoration for her room.

I swear this is how she talked..

As she continuously puts on layer after layer of lip gloss and giggled with her friends..

LFS-Can I help you?
Her- Um Yea, I need a fish.
LFS- What Kind of fish?
Her- Something I do not like have to touch or anything
LFS- What size tank do you have
Her- oh no tank, I found this Really pretty little bowl for him,
LFS- ok, I guess you could put a Betta in that
Her- Are they ugly
LFS- no they are rather pretty, especially the males
Her- Do they need gravel or those rock things
LFS- It would look nicer
Her- Well, I don't wanna get rocks. What do they eat
LFS- fish food, flakes
Her- So I would have to feed him myself
LFS- Yes, everyday
Her- Forreeaalll? Well does he like poop?
LFS- Yes, and you will have to clean it and do water changes
Her- Do I have to like touch the water or the fish?
LFS- Yes

She picks out a Betta, does not buy any food (I think she thought no food = no poop), pays for the 5 dollar betta with $100 bill and drives away with her friends in shinny new car.

All I could think about is regular people and poor people who are smart enough to get into college but cannot afford it....and this little brat is going to get a degree...when she cannot even figure out that fish need food.

I try to avoid complaints going to my boss...but I have made comments to leave them wondering if I was insulting or informing them ;) I think it was last week someone brought in a dead betta to exchange, which is unusual. I was asking her questions while bagging the new betta...and found out she didn't use dechlorinator. When I told she needed to use it, she exclaimed "Well the person who sold it to me never told me that!!". I told her that most people research the pet they are committing to before running out and buying it :D.

My favorite is the people that come in and for the life of them can't understand why you can't keep a "Nemo" in a bowl with a betta.

Or the people that lie and say they have a 100g tank so they can buy a "Dori" and then when they bring it back dead a week later we find out they had it in a 12g nano....sry no refund haha

Heres a recent story I remember. I called petco on the phone and asked them if they had "Seachem Flourish Excel". They told me to hang on they would get someone from the fish dept. I wait a minute and then some girl comes on the phone. I give her the name and she starts looking, then she asks me what is it. I told her its like a fertilizer for aquatic plants. She then waits a second, and then says " Oh no, we don't carry that stuff we are only a fish store".

Stuff like this pisses me off.

Kinda like another employee that told me one day after asking her if they had Jack Dempsey cichlids, she says no we only have blue and orange cichlids.

I used to change water in my hell in a 2.5g tank with normal tap water nothing went wrong.. The fish must have got used to it... Either that or the chlorine amount in the tap water is not at a harmful level...
