Just put a male and a female together and that's all there is too it. Easiest fish to breed.

nothing really wrong with feeding mice. just dont do it too often. its difficult for them to break down the protien from mammals.

fish can break it down and many fish eat mammals in the wild. seems like people forget that and say that they dont, and arnt designed to. bass do, catfish, gar, arowana so many do in the wild and people forget that. BUT its not an often occurance.

dont know why people get thier panties in a ruffle so much when this subject is brought up

so i got four of um, they are white. And i was told one was a male and three were females but i doubt it cause there not pairing off one is just chasing the other three away from his cave.

"Regular intake of substantial amounts of food containing thiaminase could introduce enough thiaminase into the gut to break down the thiamine in food & render an animal thiamine-deficient.
Fish that contain Thiaminase:
Fathead minnow – Pimephales promelas (the red rosy is a color morph of this fish!)
Gizzard Shad – Dorosoma cepedianum
Spottail Shiner – Notropis hudsonius
Buckeye shiner – Notropis atherinoides"

these are all major parts of large mouth bass and many other N.A. game fishes diet. im not trying to argue or say that post is wrong or anything, just curious why bass can eat them but P's shouldnt. i just try to vary my fishes diet as much as possible. just like they say for us, everything in moderation. i feed insects, worms, 3 diff types of hikari, and occasional feeder neons and white clouds. i think mice would be fine as a part of the diet but not a staple.

I see no point in feed live anything more often than once a month or so. With the pellet foods being of such good quality, it's just not necessary to put other animals through that kind of abuse. I'm no tree hugger, but your tank aint the wild either. If there isn't a reason for it, then don't do it. IMO feeding live pinky mice to any fish that doesn't swallow it whole is inhumane. It was like the jerk that posted a vid of his arrowana eating a live baby duck that he caught, and having the fish take almost 8 minutes to drown and chew the baby duck enought to eat it.

Enough of my rant. Pellets are a more healthy way to feed anyhow. No reason to feed live when you can meet all of your fish's nutritional needs with a prepared food.
