Feeding fish mice?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
1st reason the fure is discustingly hard for a fish to digest

2nd reason its in humane to watch a mouse getting teared apart live by fish

and the final reason why feed a live creature to a fish when the fish can be just as healthy on frozen i keep all my monsters on frozen it keeps the cost down and i find its much more healthyer for the fish as live food can introduce diseas

and about the gold fish atleast 7 weeks in my book any way but as i said its totaly in humane to watch a live animal being ripped apart how would you like some big giant to pick you up and dump you into a tank and be eaten alive if you wouldnt want it dont put other animals throught what you wouldnt put your self

and pls dont take this as a insult i have nothing against you im just trying to help you understand my points :chillpill:

Fish eat rodents in the wild all the time, and yet most of the fish we keep are not going extinct because they are eating un "healthyer" mice. Its not "in human" to feed them food they normally eat in the wild. Live mice are not usually ridden with "diseas" so "pls" dont make random assumptions. Your spelling is "discusting". :nilly:

Basically just mix up the diet, give em mice every once in a while but not all the time, it's good you've started breeding convicts - and as somebody else recommended it's relatively cheap to get frozen food or even go buy some cheap fish at the grocery store when it's on sale - give em the mice as treats maybe once every other week and all should be well - if you got a video camera post up some vids of ur piranha's tearing them up though i bet it's entertaining, can't see why anybody would want piranha's if they didn't feed live once in a while

I find it to be funny that some people says that fish eat rodents in the wild all time. But not regularly. It's almost like the lions eat doves all time. I'd called rodents as atypical prey items for all fishes and as a treat.

I agree! Paranha's for the most part are ugly and always hide. I think the only reason to have them is to watch it rip apart something. A couple beers, a screeming mouse or two.......... good stuff.

Is there another reason to have Piranha's?

:lol3: Not that I can think of. Good points

But in the wild, from what I understand, they are mostly scavengers of other fish, and birds. Not too many mammals.

Mice are certainly not a often occurence in a fishes diet, but it happens enough that they should not be entirely ruled as "unhealthey". A mixed diet is the best diet, and if you add mice into the mix, why not? As long as the mice are not starving, or ridden with diseases or parasites then it shouldn't matter.

You can put the pinkies in the freezer for a while to kill them before feeding so that they suffer less.

You may also want to get more than two female mice because they do not last very long if you keep them pregnant or nursing all of the time. The need time to rest to have the healthiest litters.
