What in the HELL is that????????

To clarify what I originally intended to ask- I'm talking more about consistent over feeding.....not so much occasional over feeding. Keep the discussion going:) good stuff!

well, I consistently powerfeed and have been doing so for almost 20 years.

my experience with it is this:

a fat fish after feeding is generally a healthy fish.

I believe that well fed fish are much more capable of fighting off diseases too.

pretty rare that a fish gets better when its not getting much food..

having said that, I feed a lot of high protein pellets/sticks etc and I do take the odd day off for my fish, in order to 'purge' their systems.

so I do powerfeed, but I guess I really do it 6 days a week with usually day off..as you can see from the growth of my barbs, they don't notice the missing day :)

some my fish will literally eat and eat and eat - not eating food that is in front of them is not an option..

I have a feeling that if you kept on feeding they would probably throw up = I have seen tinfoil barbs do this - they pack so much food down, and then they cough it back up, usually trying to eat it again LOL

Depends on the fish. Gulpers like that kind of feeding, but many other fish (goldies) find it quite fatal. Unicorns Can't be overfed :)

dingo it hard not to over feed a barra when they eat all the food u put in for everyone when mine was 12in i put 20 2 inch feed goldfish for him and the 3 leis he raced around and eat all 20 in under a minute :) freaked the leis out in the prosess to lol

Lol, I fed mine feeder fish 3 days in a row till they buldged, now they look really healthy and tuff, lol.

Fat fish are ugly. Sometimes I feed my pike cichlid too much; if it still has a fat gut the next day I won't feed it that day.

i feed my fish alot, but as long as you are keeping the water clean and the nitrates low and all that good stuff.....i don't see a huge problem w/ it.......makes for happy fish just make sure they get there exercise

Does anyone have proof of a mature fish that's larger than normal as a result of "power feeding"?
