Feeding small gar?

Today my bigger and aggressive gar died also my plants in the tank grew a lot the tank has a substrate of birt from outside caped with sand

I added a few more plants but they also grew a lot. As you can see I have that fungus/bacteria on my drift wood do you know if snails will get rid of it some got in the tank because I got the plants from outside

There's my 2 gar that I still have one is different than the other so I think they might be different types

When it gets bigger it can I take guppies or rosy red minnows

Update now I only have one gar the other one died but the one I bo have is eating I got it baby brine shrimp and I am giving it the option of blood worms too. I added a albino Cory cat in the tank to help clean it up.

I've still got all three one is already 3in while the other two are much smaller but still doing ok. One of the smaller ones got his tail bit off by the largest but still eats well. All are constantly eating throughout the day.

Longnose are my favorite species of gar I have 8 coming today. I am putting them in a pond once they outgrow their tanks.
