Female Festae or Male Cuban...Which one should I keep?

I would keep the Festae and get a male festae and start breeding them

Wish i had seen this thread before, i was trying to pick between Cubans or grammodes. I picked the Grammodes but seeing your Cuban i would of picked Cubans.

Best of luck keeping both fish they are both prefect you must be doing something right

if dither fish or other fish don't work get a divider and keep them both. you should be fine for awhile at least. they are both very hot fish, you don't to have regrets.

i think the cuban will need its own space anyway due to health reasons so a divider might be best.

Imo i wouldnt risk it with two beautiful specimens like that

I agree, that's why I am watching closely and have a 55 gallon backup ready to go.

Quick update...time to separate. The cuban has the upper hand and is starting to chase the festae around relentlessly. It worked for a couple of days, but cichlids will be cichlids.

Happened to my female too. She got bullied pretty badly. Had to isolate her and remove a few fish to make it work.

But like you said, cichlids being cichlids...
