I'm a girl fish-keeper!

It gets annoying when I go into a fish store with my hubby and the employee talks to him about the fish. Hubby doesn't care, hubby doesn't know anything about fish, I'm the one with the ten tanks, but this fact goes over a lot of people's heads!

Or, when I walk in with my two kids, I can see it on the employee's faces: "Oh boy, here comes another dumb mom looking for a goldfish for "junior's" ten gallon."

I agree with that ,unfortunatley a lot of places just assume women folk are a bit dumb .

i'm a woman and i know a few men who keep bloody feeder fish like guppies and tetras lol. so hell yeah, we exist. actually on another note, i dont have any friends who are fishkeepers apart from the people who i know on here. and most of the guys who i hang out with just think fish are food.

yer most of my friends think im weird keeping fish they just think i keep them to get bigger i can eat them in the end ...weird people lol
and then there like why do you have so many fish tanks around the house lol
yeah my friends r to stuck up and are into alco n boys to take a hobby like fish keeping

Don't think my fishes are scary

Anyway the local fish forum I frequent... the guys there tend to call me 'bro' and I don't bother to correct them.

Only a few of them know I'm female.

Me. Just seems more rare among the more serious aquarists and people with bigger aquariums. At least this is what I've observed.
