Female jack dempsey hybrid

Possible JD hybrid but I have no idea what she could be mixed with

Looks like a pure Jack to me. It isn’t very spangly, but most hybrids seem to take after the traits of the other cichlids.

Those marking look odd for a JD in my opinion i think it could be a possible hybrid

I’ve seen markings like that in jacks at the store. Maybe stress related.

Shes a new intake so she could very well be stressed from the move and her passed environment. But her entire body lacks jack dempsey spots and coloring. She has more of a circulator patter thats black and brown which I've never seen before in my time keeping Jack's

She’s a really nice one. Females usually aren’t that colorful. I think it’s just the stress as you said.

JDs can vary greatly in color patterns, in the lightness, or how dark they present, with mood, and hierarchal or alpha status and dominance, availability of shadows or sunlight, even the color of a tanks substrate have an influence of how they look.

Looks like a jack to me. They all pretty much look like that at one point or another. I wonder what happened to her gill plate
