Festae Breeding Advice

Is she chasing him? If so divide them and try to pair them back out after your done raising the fry.

She doesn't attack him, the worst I've seen her do is nudge him with her mouth and a little flaring. She does chase off every other fish though. Once in a while he goes right next to her like in this pic. My concern is him not eating. Is this normal for him to not eat?

The only times I've had problems with mine not eating was when they had internal parasites. I've been able to get all mine to eat even when I first get them.

He was eating up until she laid eggs with him, now he doesn't eat. I wonder why?? Any ideas?

I figured it was something to do with the breeding because he's still colored up and was eating up until the eggs. I got some free swimmers today. Will the mom be able to defend her fry from the other cichlids or should I divide the other cichlids out and leave mom and dad with babies for now?

I would either divide them from other fish, or better yet remove the others now that the eggs have hatched.

I don't have a big enough tank to house the other cichlids in so ill be dividing em tonight when I get home.

I divided the other cichlids away from the parents yesterday. Thought I'd post a video up of the free swimmers. They started yesterday and today they're all free swimming. Kinda hard to see them, they're under the rock. The female continues to dig!

The female is F1 Ecuador and the male is F1 from Umbeeking. I think the male is mostly Ecuador but has some Peru in it, I'm not entirely certain on this.
