Festae finally breeding!

I just took out my festae fry 2 days ago. Im going to but the divider back in and reintroduce the male in that tank tomorrow. I have another pair about to spawn in a 75 and their tubes are out. I love festae, they are my favorite cichlid. Good luck w/ the brood...

very cool i recently got me some baby red terrors in hopes of breeding them :thumbsup:
 
Thanks for the well wishes. They are wigglers now mom is moving them to a crevice in a rock as they hatch. I cant see them but she is completely consumed with checking the crevice so im sure that's where she going with them. I will try to get a picture when they finally start to swim around. Hopefully the parents wont eat them. She is not letting the male get to close, so maybe shes going to be a good mom.
 
Good to hear. I also have some news. The pair that are pictured are doing well the little ones are just starting to swim a little. But I also have another pair of festae that I have in another tank. The male was quite a bit larger than the female I put with him so he quickly attacked her so I put up a divider. Well they have been like that for about a month The female has gotten larger and I think she maybe gravid. Tonight the male was showing some interest in her so I removed the divider so far they are getting along. He is head shaking and fanning her with his tail and she is returning the advances, last check they were swimming together and cleaning a spot of gravel from behind a large rock. In hoping for another spawn with this pair. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

I created it hoping we all could share our info, pics and experiences. I was just trolled for mentioning my recent eggs, yes this new pair just lad a ton, on another persons post. I was sharing my enthusiasm for the festae race and I would like to share fry w/ other members to keep good gene pools, but somebody got all angry trolled me. It was my first negative experience on MFK. This is a hobby we all LOVE that makes us HAPPY..

She laid very deeply in that big clay pot, I had trouble getting enough lighting to take good eggs pics, but I plan on taking new video of the pair displaing while gurading tonight BIG G!
