Update, The fry are swimming now. I would say there is about 100. I moved half of them to a 15 gallon to raise. I left mom and dad some to see how they do with them. Here are a few pictures. Its kinda hard to see the little ones.

Big G, I never got the whole Mayan/Urothalmus look like Red Terror/Festae Thing! They look so different to me! You can tell a festae is a festae at less than an inch...

I have more news on my festae project. The 2nd pair Have bred. They are in the middle of spawning now. I already have the spawn from the first pair, and now it seems im going to have another.
so we dont get confused its this pair.

AWESOME BRO!! My 2nd pair is close too. I still can't belive you got festae that pretty at a LFS. Great color and shape! I get off work in 40mins maybe I can say the same bro!! I actually wussed out last night and put the divider back in between my 3rd pair, but I noticed the female trying to get back at male thru divider almost right away. I woke up today and he moved it himself, LOL! BIG G what you gonna do about the fry? You should have a TON!

See that pretty orangy color in the face of your 2nd pair? That's exactly how my wild females face looks. I need to do some research on color phases on festae and locality.

I plan on selling some back to the LFS in the area. I will keep some to grow out and continue the breeding project.
Im not sure where my festae originate from. I was told that my fish are the first spawn from a wild caught pair. The guy that sold these to me does do his own collecting and he had caught the pair and gave them to a friend who in turn bred them and gave back some of the spawn to the LFS to be sold. I just happen to be in the right place at the right time.
The next time I am close I will stop in there again and see if I can get some more information on their background. Its just hard to catch the owner in the store hes always traveling.
