Never owned a Festae but yeah they are colorful but Midas can be strikingly beautiful as well. I mean I have seen plain white Midas that my jaw just hits the floor because they have sooo much muscle tone and just look badass. I don't think I will ever own a festae based on that they don't catch my eye. Plus As you guys say they are a little less personal and don't give much attention to the owner. Honestly the fish could be drab in color but if it interacts with me to the point where i just say I have to have this fish then I get it.

I was thinking along the lines of other cichlids for tankmates. I assume it could be possible to keep convicts with either as long as there are plenty of hiding places, but the questionable one was my Vieja Syn.

In the long run I def see it as a problem with the Midas, but maybe (10%chance) if introduced together and the Midas being alot smaller than my 6" vieja it could work.

Again i appreciate wealth of responses and opinions being expressed. Once someone purchases my 180Gal(due to moving:cry:) I will be able to setup the 90, I will be shopping for one of these two fish.

Right now I am more for the Midas and am thinking in the future when I can have a big tank again(5+ years away) i will definitely get a Festae and some others to live together. Unless someone talks me out of it, haha.;)

Had a 7-8" male Festae not long ago that would not eat unless I leave the room. But than again maybe it's because he's a WC fish.

Not sure if anyone remembers but I use to own a gigantic pair of Festae, male has huge hump(puts alot of FH to shame) and female with amazing colors. Honestly they were the most amazing looking pair of fishes I've ever owned, ever though they were kinda shy.

lol, false information? I have kept & breed HUNDREDS of festae for a period of 7 years. overall they do NOT hold a candle to a Midas's personality. Most of the time, they are skittish & hide, except for feeding. what are your credentials? let me guess, you own 1 festae. note, post count does not equal intelligence or experience.

Are you kidding me? My Festae is out swimming almost all the time. IME, Festae are not hiders and are far from being skittish. Just because you like Midas better don't give false information about the competition.
