Filet-O-Fish: McDonald’s Most Overlooked Sandwich

About 15 years ago, McD's coffee was just as bad as everything else on the menu...excluding, of course, those wonderful fries. They switched the coffee over then...different supplier, different coffee maker, who knows what....and had a promotion in which they offered free coffee. At the time I was commuting well over 100km each way to work on a daily basis, and my normal routine had me stopping at a Tim Horton's in a small town near my house as I drove into the city. My breakfast was normally a breakfast biscuit and a large black Timmy's...but unlike most Canadians, I really wasn't a huge fan of Timmy's coffee. So after hearing a few co-workers recommending McD's coffee, I tried it and I was blown away. It was wonderful! I actually stopped each morning at Timmy's for my breakfast sandwich but then drove right next door to McD's for my coffee. This went on for years, until Timmy's finally brought out their second or third version of dark roast coffee; they had finally gotten it right and it quickly became my favourite and thus saved all that jumping around in the pre-dawn darkness just to get a breakfast I enjoyed.

Starbucks? Can't stand the place. Aside from requiring one to take out a loan to buy coffee there, they make you jump through all these hoops requiring multiple choices regarding your coffee; they have a dozen or more different types, they all smell different, but they all taste the same, and it ain't good. :(
The only redeeming thing about Starbucks is their ordering system. You know how you have to give your name? There’s something about the barista having to call out for “Mike Hunt” that never stops being funny.

Why is the OP thought to be a bot? Are they known for carpet bombing the forum with threads about fast food?

No, this was their first post, made on Friday night when they joined. They popped in again Saturday morning, but even though the discussion was well underway by Saturday morning, they didn't even reply to any of the conversation!!

Bots usually, but not always, give themselves odd usernames, even just numbers or random letters. They also post odd content, and usually in sub sections where that content shouldn't be. And they have a habit of putting in very odd links, usually nothing whatsoever to do with the subject matter.

This one has actually posted an actual discussable subject matter, in the right place, with no odd links, and they have a sensible username!

So I'm not sure on this one, it's just odd they haven't been back to join in their own thread!!

Come on E elizabeth_jones , put us out of our misery!! Are you a bot, or are you hot!!!

Ah yes, an old Simpsons gag. That little rascal Bart, lol.

"Mike Hunt? Mike Hunt? Has anyone seen Mike Hunt?

Still funny now. I'm such a child, lol.

In fact, was it the Simpsons, that gag seems a bit raunchy for kids TV? I'm sure it was but I could be wrong.

I don’t mess with coffee or Tim Hortons but the assistant plant manager brought some of their donuts around a few weeks back and they managed to make a half decent donut to my surprise.

Honestly, I hate Starbucks coffee. We have a coffee shop here in Tomball that has much better coffee for about half the price of Starbucks coffee.

As for McDonald's...I believe their chicken nuggets are barely chicken (I call it particle chicken). However, those nuggets hit different with some BBQ sauce and some fries. But those aren't my first choice of fast food meal; I'd instead go for a grilled chicken sandwich from Whataburger (most of you probably won't know what this is unless you live in Texas or Louisiana) or a four-piece fried chicken meal from Raising Cane's (again, a mainly Texan and Louisiana joint). Cane's sauce is way too good for a fast-food restaurant.

Also, if I'm craving Mexican food and I don't want to go to an actual restaurant, Taco Bell's steak quesadilla is excellent with some Diablo sauce (I love spice, lol).

I dont know anyone who would feel like fish for dinner and think McDonalds.
Do you have fish and chip shops in america?

Also i had starbucks for the first time in probably 10 years on the weekend, just a straight up "americano" . Was decent and i would certainly have it again but I had to wait for far too long as all the people ahead of me in the line ordered these weird sugary drinks that took them forever to make.
