I think so, and Marineland wasn't on the list then, either.
 
This is a bi-monthly repeat that has been going on for as long as i have been around for sure. But i would bet longer. ;)

filters move water thru media.

Figure out how much water you need to move per hour. (turn over rate)

And then figure out which media you like for mechanical,biological, chemical.

And then fit the puzzle pieces together.

I have to say if filter brand choice is causing this much of a problem for you. You might want to step back and reevaluate your whole hobby situation before spending a few hundred bucks or more to find out this is not for you.
 
eheim is always left out. lol. but i use eheim and AC
 
filtration will depend on your setup and what you are looking to achieve some of us use different methods but the main thing is to research and get what you will need to achieve your desired effect.

IMO anything that needs more than 300 gph should be filtered in a sump, increased water volume and easy access to your media have a lot going for them..

On a smaller system there isn't much that works better than an ehiem can, if that's out of your budget aquaclear hobs are my second choice
