LOL, the first reply already exposed your biggest oversight.

Eheim all the way.

It really depends on your tank. What size, what are the inhabitants, is it planted.

I have used Marineland, Fluvals, Eheims, Aquaclear HOB, Whispers, Topfins, Reverse Undergravel Filters, sumps, etc and all of them have their applications. Tell us about your tank, and we can better choose which filter type and brand.

Can anybody tell me why ocean clear or nu-clear filters they are not so popular i think they are probably the best for big aquariums i've set up a few and i love them also had experience with eheims and fluval fx5 but nothing compare to these filters, im guesing people think they are expensive and difficult but i seen people buying 5 pro 3 for a tank

when this pic was taken it was super clean. now it is so cloudy you cant see from one end of the tank to the other.

in the tank is;2 turtles,6 bluegills.
it is a 20gal tank.
no substrate
no planted things

i have a aqeon filter (rated for 20gal) and whisper filter (rated for 10gal)

You have 6 bluegills and 2 turtles in a 20 gallon tank? With that bioload in that small of a tank, I don't think it will matter what filter you use. It isn't going to be clean. You do realize that they can not stay in a 20 gal for very long? I don't know much about turtles, but I had 1 bluegill and 1 sunfish in a 30 gal for about 2 weeks and that was enough for me. They were pigs. They now live in a public aquarium.
