I still like the 2 hob's ...ya just gotta add some extra bio -filtration(sponge filters)

Yeah me too.

And a 2262 is probably overkill for a 125 anyway. If you were buying new, and wanted a Eheim, a 2260 would work fine. I like the classics more than the new models. JMO.
But a 2078 with two Emperor 400's or a Aquaclear 110 should be more than enough. Dr Foster and Smith has both the Emperor and Aquaclears on sale right now too.
Alright, I'm probably going to go with the 2078 and an AC 110. The two Emperor 400's would cost a lot to run (with the cartridges and all). I like how the AC has customizable media, plus it's cheaper. The only reason I'm getting the 2078 is because I can get it for $50. But the 2078 and an AquaClear 110 should be fine right?

yes , but dont you have the emp already , if so just use some marineland blue\white bonded media cut to fit and re-use it. it will eliminate the need for cartridges

I started my own thread kind of like this. I will be getting a 125 later this year. I decided that what I will do is run an established emp. 400 and get a ac 110. That should give me best of both filters. I'll probably have at least 2 sponges that I'll keep in my 75 till time for the move. I'll also save some money buy getting the blue/white bonded pads. Good luck with the oscars, they're messy but big friendly pets.
