filtration for 12x4x3

Actually the size of your sump would have to depend on your bioload and type of filter media... if you are going to use cheap bioballs then you will need a lot of them as compared to eheim substrat or biohome, reason being that bioballs are less efficient. A general guide for sumps would be about half to 2 thirds your tanks capacity. I havent seen any of those fibreglass sumps on sale online before, only at those ponds and florist shops... so sry cant hlp u there. They come most of the time in blue or black and have kind of a rough surface. They also have drainage taps at the bottom of each compartment.
 
I would suggest you get a big pond filter for mechanical filtration and 3 rainbow lifegard fluidized bed filters. Like the 900, they can handle tanks up to 400 gallon a piece and if your planning monsterfish I am pretty shure that you need this kind of filtration.
 
that ecosystem was kinda a joke,,,, i wouldnt spend 2200 make a wet/dry i guarantee those pond fliters are LOUD, just like a pool filter, you can probably hear the water swooshing around inside, just my opinion
 
maby i can sound proof the cabinet i kinda dont wanna build a wet/dry cause it will prolly suck

theres no doubt a pool/pond fliter will be your cheapest way out, if you can sound proof the cabinent then go for it, i never thought of that idea, but a wet.dry would be my choice :naughty: (theres gotta be someone around you that can help you out w. one, someone at a lfs possibly?
 
i dont have much money ether maby i can route the pond filter out side its kind aa good idea id be easyer to clean out side also seeing i could use the hose or somthing
