nice pond.
how many gallons?
does it have water in it?
you dont think the walls will fall over?
and i would definitely do more filter.
:)

It's about a 400g pond. It has water sitting in it from the rain and I started filling it the past couple of weeks. I think it should be fine...after all...the last pond was built in the same manner and it didn't topple over after the Northridge earthquake. I'm probably going to get a bigger filter later on, but for now...when it warms up some more, I'm going to put my RTC and CK in there so the bio load won't be so bad. ;)

That turned out really nice,.

Well...I just moved to Los Angeles and my pond is currently in Valencia. I haven't getton a chance to dismantle and move it yet.

benz, i really like what you did to make that pond, made it seem like itd be something that even i could do and have it up and running on a saturday afternoon or something lol. if i had a pond about as deep, would it be ok to make it longer and the blocks wouldnt move? or does that wood around it hold the blocks in place? id be afraid that it would topple over while filling it personally, but i really like what you did there, youve inspired me.

i think when i build mine almost like yours, i will offset and mortar in the bricks, since it will be about 30 feet long and 10 wide, but just about as deep, maybe 3 feet. i bet that the concrete blocks are cheaper than using bricks, bricks can be expensive, but i think theyd insulate the same, you can always fill in the holes with insulation or packing foam. kinda hard to do if theyre offset now that i think about it. im gonna do something like this though for sure. did you put down a blanket underneath the liner? or what is that. and if you dont mind me asking, how much did this cost you to do?
