fantastic tank. great job

Looks nice, good job!

Thanks guys and gals! It's still cycling, though. The ammonia's still really high, but my other tests show that the Nitrates and Nitrites are ok. I've done a couple of 50G changes. It's been 2 weeks, so I figured it would start to settle down a bit. I've even used some stuff to quicken the cycle, and I'm feeding the little fish plenty of food so the can get their poop on. Any suggestions? The ones in the 55 stare at it all the time and are definately ready to move in. Any suggestions?

nice

Has anyone ever tired making one big enough so that you can jump in and swim with the gang? Perhaps even add some underwater speakers and pump "under the sea!"

Ok... great job!!! What was your cost (money and time) for the project?

Amazing tank. I'd like to see more pics and specs with regards to the filtration if possible ...

The total cost after adding in hardware, silicone, etc. ended up being about $475. Not too bad for a tank that would retail for about $700. Time was definately an issue. HOURS of scraping remnant silicone. I've probably put 40-50 hours into it. It took a while because I have 3 jobs. I teach during the day, work as a bicycle mechanic 2 evenings a week, and I do yard work one afternoon a week for a lady in town. On the weekends I drive 2 hours to see my fiance and we usually spend the weekend at one of our parents' places. Sucks for someone who likes to race bikes and never has time to train. Last night I finished my temporary canopy. It will work until I'm settled into a new place after we're married in June. ALL ARE INVITED :o)

Sump: I used a 50 G Rubbermaid container with 5 gallons of the 1" Bioballs. I've thought about adding more bioballs or some cheap pot scrubbers. I use quilt batting for the filter media. I'm going to build a better sump out of a 30 or 55 when I move, also. I just wonder if I need more bacteria media. Only about 1/2 is submerged. I've seen it done both ways where it's all either totally under water with an airstone, or only 1/2 way under. What do you recommend?

Great work nice looking tank!

About you cycling question if you havent done it already put some of the biomedia from one of your established tanks in your new tanks filter. That works real fast for me every time

Cool Good Job!! keep up the good work!!
