I agree with richie_ELP, monitors are not a cheap animal to care for and there really arent short cuts you can take with them. I have a 2' sav and she costs me $30-$40 a month to feed her a proper diet and with her currently being approximately the same size as an adult ackie and requiring a similar diet you can expect to pay about that much for an ackie monitor in terms of monthly costs.
Well it went in one ear and out the other; but that's expected when a kid just wants to hear a yes.
Meal worms are not an acceptable staple, nor does this address the space issue. If you can't afford the food you can't afford the proper lighting and heating supplies. I don't see daddy understanding the need for a thirty dollar bulb when he can't understand the footprint needed to begin with.
Good luck, I suppose.

The minimum is the minimum for a reason.. In all honesty the smallest I'd keep one in would be 4'x2'. The cage length should be at least double the length of the lizard, and the width should be at least the length of the lizard. So that cage would be okay for a small ackie, but not a decent sized adult.like I said earlier, isn't 3 by 2 feet the minimum?? I added half a foot to the length and just shrunk the width by 4 inches!
Geesh kid listen to them there pointing you in the right direction I want one to,but because of lack of space & funds for now.im not skipping any short cuts,it will only shorten the live spam of your reptile!!! Maybe this will do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VkJ...xt=C3d2815cUDOEgsToPDskLFfDhIPqwZD4z33XvRjoR1 Check it out they seem to cool little fellas & requirements aren't as bed or expensive as monitors go!! With that size enclosure you could have quite a few in there.......Good luck do a lil more research please see what else is out there, you'll be suprised
Yum just throwing this out there but could you not go higher with the viv and get timor or two?
ackies are freaking dull yeah i said it...
