finally getting some senegal poly's

Id say 4 or 5 they seem to be better in groups,well mine seem happier lol.

Anything else in the tank or just the sens? If it's just the sens I agree, 5-6 maybe. Senegalus are pretty active bichirs, I think it would be more interesting to have them in a smaller group rather than a big pile.

there is a 6" pleco in the tank, but my filtration is great, got an fx5.

They are the farthest thing from boring even if you only have one.

Either way, the max I would go in a tank that size is 3. That's just me personally though.

You will be taking a risk putting bichirs in with a pleco, plecos have been known to suck on the slime coats of bichirs. Sometimes they can be fine together, my sen and sailfin pleco have been together for almost 8 months now without any problems, but in most cases (from what I've heard) it doesn't work out and the two either end up having to be separated, or the bichir eventually dies.

i havent had any issues with my pleco and my knifefish, who is always within close proximity of each other. if there is an issue with it i can separate them tho.

they're probably young sens (3 inches). i'd go 4-5. they will grow out nicely in a tank like your's. i had just one for along time, then i introduced another. the older sen's attitude perked up. they are fun fish but seem to really enjoy groups.

guess i wasnt trying to go overboard? but is this the norm for bichir?
