tall fake plants? floating? or would just a large piece of driftwood be best?

It's really up to you. Driftwood is more appealing, and if used right can make awesome hiding places for bichirs.

Fake plants next to some driftwood would be the best of both worlds and would look pretty slick.

ill have to take a look around. thanks for the help. will post pics up

Well, well, well...getting the Polys, huh.;) Interesting dimensions. In a tank that size, I'd go with 3-5. Albino Sens tend to be on the smaller side then regular Sens, so that might help with some decision with "how many." Sens are pretty active so I wouldn't worry about the Pleco too much. From what I experienced, the less active Polys have the issues with Plecos, but there's always a risk. Tank decor...Sand works great. I haven't had any issues with sand. Driftwood with an arch makes great hiding spots and/or rocks placed next to each other to create a crevice for them feel secure between.

well, went to my lfs, bought a piece of driftwood with a nice upper arch on it, although it was overpriced imo. going to see if i can get some smooth river rocks or the like for the bottom. my lighting hood timer arrived, and i installed it yesterday, my LED lighting is in the mail as we speak.

my LFS didnt carry any senegals while i was there, but they had two retropinnis costing 44.99 each, wow..... also an ornate for 49.99, but thats out of the question.

I hate to say this, but looks like im going to be going to petsmart for their 10 dollar bichir, also they r the only LFS in my area that i know to carry the albino variety.

I'll post pics up of my progress as soon as i get to borrow my gf's camera next weekend, which is most likely when ill be adding the fish. Need to get my driftwood soaking in the meantime.

Cheers

Nitro

P.s. while perusing their food section, they had a variety of (all of these are hikari) sinking carnivore pellets, massivore delight ($$$), as well as feeding sticks. should i prefer the feeding sticks over the sinking pellets or vice versa?

i installed the backstrip on the rear of my glass lid, and it doesnt seem to fit tightly. it tends to sit up about 1cm above the lip of the tank. i taped down the big portions, but would this be a problem? i have more of the material so i could cut another piece if need be, but i think it would have the same fit.

p.s. i hate our camera. better camera in a few days.

nvm the question i had posted, my knifefish is on the list of compatible species.

thanks

does anyone come on here?

ive got my driftwood ready to go in, ive fixed the back of my tank up with some 4x4's, so all i need to know is about the hikari food.

thanks

Everything seems to be fine. Sens tend to go everywhere. I have some that comes to the surface to eat, but they probably prefer sinking. I currently use sinking pellets for mine, but they might come up and try to get some of the Pbass pellets.
