His tank is going tobe moved back against the wall Wet Whiskers:banher::D.

Man, I usually keep up on threads, but I spend one day picking out a dog and I don't know what's going on... :) Well, in that case, PAINT IT!! :D

If you paint the back, i would also paint the bottom. Someone recently got an acrylic with a black bottom and it was naughty!!!!

Have you thought about a sump? More water volume and can hide equipment.

Hmm.. Correct me if I am worng but once the tank is filled with water, you will not be able to see the black bottom unless your looking at the tank from the bottom upwards, from the top downwards, or when it does not have water. Besides, with a bare bottom tank, you will have lighting for your canisters if needed. I love how your couch is going to cover your filtration by the way. Nicely designed.

Thank you and I love it too:D

Glass is using 19mm all around including the base and braces.

Man, that must've cost a bomb! Kudos to you!

I had planned to get a custom 450G as well until I found out the price of 19mm glass panes was beyond my budget! So I have to go down to a 300G (for the time being!). The shop recommended bracing the base of the tank on the insides, similar to the top. Am not entirely sure whether this is necessary or not, will just spoil the look of the tank bottom IMO. Did you have yours braced this way?

Isn't the 'lower brace' just the bottom of the tank??? What did they trying to get you to do?

I actually thinking of pulling the tank a bit more inwards towards the couch and just place back my bar stools so I can actually sit right in front of the tank while at the bar. This way I will still have lots of space in my living room instead of moving the tank back against the wall and losing half of the living room space. So yes I can see the tank from the kitchen as well;)

I have a sugguestion. Lexi our shop director, came up with an idea for you.

How about moving the tank against the wall where the stand was initially. Then, have your couch where your tank is now backing the bar but having enough room for stools behind the bar. Boom, solved.

Yes it was quite expensive for a custom glass tank of this size due to the thickness being 19mm on all 4 corners. Also yes mine does have bottom braces just like how the top braces are excluding the top middle brace on the bottom. The bottom braces are just around the tank. It does kind of spoil the look of the tank but I think once the stock is in u wouldn't notice it. Also it's better to have extra support on the bottom for a tank that holds more then 2 tons of water.

He was referring to these braces.

I will not be painting the back nor the bottom. I already have a background wall paper for it which gives me the color options of either black or blue. Also yes I have thought about a sump and thinking of doing a overflow system once I move into a house with a basement that will be my future fish room. I will probabely have to remake the back glass piece and have it drilled to do this or would there be another way without drilling?

That's actually a great idea . Thanks I'd probabely give that a try.
