My eel can arch his back upwards no problem at all.. doesnt sleep/rest on his side or back either... I have however saw others with spiny eels that tend to do this... not sure if it's really good or bad!? ?

Literally have no idea myself. I don’t know if he’s just a weirdo or its symptom of a sickness and needs to be treated. I was hoping fellow eel keepers would come to my rescue. My husband doesn’t think anything is actually wrong either but does admit its strange and finds it cute. I appreciate your reply!

Fire eel scared me!!!!!!!!!!
My monster fire eel has a wierd sleeping habit :screwy:... I saw him like this the other night and thought that I lost him..:WHOA:..He was just snoozing!!!! Anyone else notice this behavior in their eels? ----Chris

Thank you, Nilsa!!! I guess its normal? Lol. I think when I’m done treating the melafix and primafix next week for his back, I’m going to treat with prazi-pro for deworming. The last comment said something about internal worms. I know it can be use as a preventative as well. I just bought a bottle off Amazon. Better safe than sorry. Not to mention, I always like having medications on hand. Thank you so much. I’ll keep you updated.

Hey guys! I wanted to give you an update! So I bought a new cave for my eel and threw away that damn PVC pipe. He was super upset with me. Lol. But! I have not seen him lay upside down in his new cave and his back is starting to heal! I am so happy. Even after I sanded down the ends of the PVC pipe I think it was still scraping him. I intend to treat for possible internal worms next but I’m getting some bad luck with my tank. One of my discus is showing symptoms of hole in the head and another is possible swim bladder. I’ve been doing daily water changes for my eel to heal so my water conditions are perfect. Guess I need to do another post. One issue solved another to deal with. Thank you all for your support.
