That's the same question I also asked above. I'm curious to see what people's opinions are, because fact is, if the neighbor wouldn't have called, the FD would have never shown up. People could have died, all because of a idiotic fee.

looks like some of you didnt watch the video or didnt read my previous post. he have been paying the annual fee's but didnt pay for it this year. the firefighter only showed up because the neighbors that paid the fee was afraid the fire might spread to their house so then the firefighter came. so if there was people in the house and trapped they would of all burn to death. so really they didnt care for the house nor if people where in the house.

And honestly, I'm even surprised this is ALLOWED to happen in the US. Several posts say that the fire department ONLY showed up when the neighbor (who had paid their fee) called and was concered about his property. They refused to even come out when the original propery owner called.

Now, let's say this was a person that lived miles away from another homes. His house is on fire, he calls the FD, and they don't show up because he didn't pay his fee. His kids die in the fire. What then? Same situation. Is it still acceptable? Is then this $75 a fee you just placed on someone's life? Because that's what I'm getting from the info I've read.

yeah, it would of been better if they atleast showed up and see what was going on. incase there where people inside. but they didnt care. sometimes people gotta break rules and go outside the box. its sad some people dont know whats right and wrong and only do what they are told to do.

I haven't read thru the pages since I last posted around page 7 but lets remember this....the fire dept is a whole county over and by the time they got there, the house was probably mostly burned up anyway. Now his homeowners insurance will build him a whole brand new house.

Quick question... what if you are visiting a neighbor or a family member and a fire broke out and you are trapped. You call for help...when you tell them you are visiting, do they leave you to burn??? How the heck are you supposed to know there is a fee? Let's see maybe the call goes like this...

911, what's your emergency? I am visiting my neighbor there is a fire in the house and we are trapped, PLEASE SEND HELP! PLEASE!

Wait one second ma'am while I pull up the records to see if your neighbor has paid the yearly $75.00 fee...WHAT???!!! THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE AND WE ARE TRAPPED IN A ROOM AND WE CAN'T GET OUT!!!!

I understand ma'am but we are required to check to see if the fee has been paid before we can send the fire department out to your location...ARE YOU LISTENING TO WHAT I AM SAYING??? THIS HOUSE IS ON FIRE AND THE SMOKE IS FILLING THE ROOM...Ma'am please stay calm... you will die quickly because your friend did not pay the $75 fee. I have heard them say the smoke will render you unconscious, maybe you will die first before you feel the flames ma'am..

ARE YOU SERIOUS THE FLAMES ARE STARTING TO TURN THE WALLS BRIGHT RED...PLEASE SEND US SOME HELP!!! I WILL PAY YOU THE $75 FEE IMMEDIATELY WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE!!!! Ma'am? Ma'am? I CAN'T BREATHE WELL, THE SMOKE IS STARTING TO FILL THE ROOM!!! Ma'am, You have to pay now, for me to send the fire department. OKAY, OKAY, OKAY!!!I WILL PAY THE DARN FEE!!! LET ME GET MY PURSE, COUGH, COUGH, COUGH. Ma'am I can't take payments over the phone but I can transfer you to the automated service. OKAY!! OKAY!!! OKAY!! WHERE IS MY PURSE MARY??? WHERE? COUGH, COUGH, WHERE DID YOU PUT MY PURSE???

I KNOW, I AM SO..COUGH, COUGH SORRY....Ma'am are you still there? Have the flames reached you yet? I spoke with my boss and he said even if you pay by credit card over the phone, it will not show in our system until tommorrow afternoon. IF I GET OUT OF HERE ALIVE..COUGH, COUGH, COUGH, COUGH... I AM GOING TO SUE YOU ALL!!!!! Ma'am based on your description of the room being surrounded by flames and the amount of coughing you and your friend MARY are doing, you both won't be alive to sue us, and my supervisor told me to inform you that I don't have to take your abusive to call, hope it won't hurt too bad Ma'am...Goodbye Ma'am..

Do you know what's the first question they ask when you called 911 to report an accident, Jose, even a car accident? They always ask first if there's anyone injured... ;) I'm sure when that guy call, they would ask the same, if there's anyone trapped in the house!

too many "what if's". its done, over. nobody was injured, and im shure from now on the idiotic man will pay the $75 fee for a provided service from a neighboring town.

pretty reasonable if you ask me.

Why on earth would anyone feel it is morally acceptable to watch someone's house burn to the ground. If you have the resources (fire hose) you should show a little compasion for your fellow human being and put that damn fire out. Whether it's your job or not.

standing and watching? that's a just being a **** these people arn't human.

at most bill him afterwards for the firefighters time

If he didnt care enough about his house to pay $75, then why should other people risk their lives for the house?
