I made a pretty big batch. Luckly all my rays ate it!

I used:
70 full shrimp
200+ pellets (NLS mega fish, slightly bigger than massivore)
8 packets of gelaton
5 cups of water

I got around 12 cups out of this mix

Next time i wil add tilapia fillet to the mix.

Well Brothers, I am very happy to see that you are having success with this.

I was asked "How big are the cubes you cut and how much do you feed?"

Once the batch has gelled properly, cut it into cubes that suite your rays size. I tend to aim for cubes the size of my thumbnail. I feed three times a day as much as my rays will eat within 8-10 minutes. It usually results in each ray consuming 4-5 thumbnail sized cubes each feeding.

When creating a batch try to blend up the "hard stuff" first then add the moist "stuff" and then the water.

Respectfully,
FireMedic.

i just whipped up a batch.

how long u leave it in the fridge b4 u feed?

Small, shallow batches can be ready in as little as 90 minutes. Larger, deeper batches usually need a good 120-180 minutes.

The shallow and deep refer to the container you choose to set the batch in. The deeper ones take a little longer to gel. -FM

For those who may have difficulty attaining vitamin supplements to put into your concoctions, you can always use Boyd's Vita-chem for freshwater fish to add into your mixes. It is usually readily accessible at your LFS. I have a ton of the stuff from ordering several 16oz bottles online. Whenever I get around to trying this, I'm definitely going to use it up!...Just a thought;)

i did 2 packets of gelitin, 2 handfuls of pellets, and about 30 smelt/shrimp. i didnt get to try it yet but i will after work tonight

my better half said i shouldnt need to use as much gelitin as u guys are using. we will see tonight if shes right lol
