firemedic, what does it say on the packet of how much liquid/solid is gelled by each single packet?

just curious as to why you're using 4ish packets (other than possibly the prepared size you are making)
 
I use cheap gelatin, Flavorite or Our Family. I find it easier to have a little more gelatin in the mix to assure "gelatin" rather then find that my batch bombed and now looks and acts like a poopy diaper.

i'm hoping mine sets and isn't way too hard or the opposite as you correctly stated.
i'm using knox gelatin, got 12 packets for 4$, so hopefully it holds.
 
heretic i used the same stuff (knox) if you look at mine if i wouldve added one more packet it would have been perfect. right now the consistancy is of about jello and i can pick it up and cut it but when they eat it it starts to get a little messy coming out of their spiracles. other than that im very happy with it.
 
thanks jeffers, i'll follow more closely to your recipe (with the extra packet). i was thinking the extra packet and maybe extra pellets to bind it more would have worked better. my barbs and tetras love it as is though, so at least it won't go to complete waste.
 
I just made my first batch of "fish jello"

I used

Massivore
hikari food sticks
NLS pellets
hikari sinking carnivore
sinking cichlid gold
tilapia
seachem nourish vitamin suplement
garlic guard
and gelatin

It looks like it is setting up nicely and it smells awful :)
I will post some pics when i cut it up later tonight
 
It came out perfect :headbang2

I just hope my ray will like it he only eats pellets :screwy:

Thanks! Ray ate it no problem at all I was kind of surprised lol

I have a slight edge considering I am the head chef of a restaurant :)
