First Car Advice!! :D

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i think for me i would get the all time sleeper.. a toyota cressida, strait 6, only comes with an automatic trans. but it's the exact same engine as the toyota supra that comes with a NICE 6 speed manual trans.

you could have a comfortable crusin' car that will beat most anything on the road, and it's considered a family sedan so the insurance would be less expensive.

and to answer the guy in NZ.. in MOST states in the US we get our learner's permits at 15.5 years, and a limited license (no other teenagers, and not driving after a certain time at night) at 16 for a year. then it becomes a full license. but we still have states that the driving age is younger and there are no limited licenses.

The common sense approach to get a car that really fits your lifestyle and needs. The best advice I heard from someone in the past was to rent a car for a week that you think you want to buy and see if it is what you really want. As we all know, once you buy a car, you're stuck with it. Good Luck!

You should try looking around on craigslist. They have great cars there. That is were I found my G35. IMO its always good to look for a clean title car.

My mom told me not to get a nice car for my first one cause most likely it would get wrecked. But since you seem to be doing good on money 30k shouldn't be a problem.

It's a big deal if the car g-d forbid gets wrecked.. Don't think I'm rich, I'm not.

Let me tell you something. Everyone has one, but you just got to make your stand out :D. Rays racing wheels, nismo body kit, and a whole other bunch of upgrades! (OMG:drool:). If you dont want to spend more than $4000+ on a car then dont get a G35 or 350Z. Parts are expensive.

 You're a smart guy.

What kind other upgrades would you recommend, I was looking at a k & n air filter for sure, what would be the pros and cons of getting a turbo charger or cold air intake.

Do body kits just affect appearance or do they enhance performance?

Turbos, depending on size, can at least double your horsepower. Cold air intake adds maybe 5-6hp. If you have $6k to spend on a turbo kit, DO IT. Exhaust, fuel system and engine management systems are a few of the other common upgrades.

Of course anything you do will affect your appearance, performance, or even both. Do you mean K & N intake? :) This is how exactly my G35 will look when im done :D:drool: This guy has the nismo body kit. The authentic nismo body kit will cost you alot. When I say alot I meant alot haha. There are also replicas of the nismo body kit that might be a little cheaper. Turbo will cost you some cash. Like I said earlier, parts for these cars are not cheap. Simple upgrades I would recommend would probably be new intake and exhaust. You can put two intakes in G35's. If I were to total up a who new exhaust system and a new intake it will probably cost you around $1100-$1400.
