any thoughts on the springfield 1903?
i think i may have been mentioned before (don't feel like goin through the thread)

approximate price?

bumpo?

A non sporterized, rearsenaled 1903 in good shape is going to run $800+

A sporterized 1903 can be had for as little as $200. Like all milsurps, there are MANY factors that decide how much its worth.

what's sporterized?

with like a plastic stock

modern blueing

its just the old gun in a new "shell"

Sporterizing goes way beyond that and can include way more devastating changes such as the milling of the military sights, cutting of the barrel or modifying the stock.

Here is an image of some M1903s as they are suppose to be

Here is a horrid sight, a sporterized M1903

The thing was, in the 60's or so, milsurps like these were cheap. They were sold literally out of barrels for about $40-50. They were every were. The popular thing at the time was to turn these old dirty military guns into what they thought was purdy deer rifles. Turns out, that once destroyed and all gone, there were not any more! Now, again depending on MANY fators, that gun that was sparred from this disgrace 50 years ago and bought for $50 could be worth $2,000 or more!

I carry a Kahr 40 cal. Not exactly the prettiest gun but reliable. Thinking of buying a Ruger 380 LCP tomorrow for a backup

I thought there was an official gun thread, but I couldn't find it, so I'll post my question here.

I'm thinking about getting my ccw soon, and I would like to know what I can/can't do right now with a firearm and how that changes if I get a ccw.
I want to be able to carry primarily out in the field when I go scouting hunting land, as a precaution, but I will end up carrying it "normally" after I get my permit.
Could I legally now just walk out into the woods with a semiauto handgun, or is that illegal? Is it legal while it's in my truck? When does it become legal/illegal? Those are the kind of questions I have.
I mean, right now I travel with my shotgun while going to and from hunting, but I know I can't just start walking around McDonalds with it either, but I guess thats just common sense, I'm looking for the real law.

I live in Michigan btw.

gonna have to look up your local laws, unless here somebody knows the laws there. it varies to much state-to-state. sometimes even counties

yep what he said. varies from state to state
