First post - new custom build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi all,

Well the carrier showed up at 2 and was gone by 3....

The movers showed up 15 minutes after the carrier left and were gone by 4:30..

The new aquarium and stand are now setup and oriented and leveled!

I left off the light bar so that I could drill and mount the lights more safely w/o doing it OVER the tank :)

I have to say that it looks great!

I will post some pics and details later, but the fun now can begin.

I will NOT completely relax until the leak test...

Thanks for hangin in!

Pics!!!!!!!!

Hi, it looks no different in my apt than it did at CTC prior to shipping...:)

More pics when I actually do something with it....

Camera upload software was lost.....and I need to replace it.

Hi all,
A disk dump of all the pics from today...

Here are some photobucket links to albums. The first shows a single pic of my 180 that was in the LR and showing the breakdown in the move to the BR.

The second shows pics I snapped of the sump and wet/dry, overflow, substrate, and the tank of course :) I also showed some pics of the 180 after the move but needs more work, time, and I need to add my tiger barbs back in!

I will post some actual pics here on the site but is a bit time consuming doing this on multiple forums LOL

Enjoy!

Holly cow that's a lot of plumbing for that 180!!!!!

Hi,

I agree, but let me explain :)

The pump is a blackfin 3600 gph with 2" inlet/outlet.

The tank is predrilled with dual 1" intakes.

I added two DIY 1" intakes that go over the wall but are hidden in the wiers.

So, I have 4x1" intakes that feed to the 2" pump inlet. Hence cone 1.

With so much intake flow and pump outflow, I run the following 3 parallel lines:

1. NC mech canister.
2. NC bio canister.
3. C02 mazzie assembly. Not in use.

I also have a 1" direct to tank for the unused flow as well as an unused and capped port. Hence cone 2.

Thr three legs are split to the existing dual outlets in the wiers. Plus I also have another 1" over the wall outlet for bypass. So, I have lots of current and bypass for when the mech canister clogs..

I use ball valves and unions all over so I can remove or replace/maintain almost anything and still run the system!

It makes changes easy and works very well.

Remember that these canisters are huge and kind of overkill for my application but I like them and wanted to experiment with them.

What do you think of the new tank?? lol

Later.

the new tank is beautiful! love the scaping on it! nice job

Hello gerryd, I took a look at the first link of your photobucket pictures and I'm just wondering how old was the set up with the tiger barbs? You probably know more about plants than I do but the tank was missing color, it would probably look gorgeous though with more plants for the background and a complete carpet(maybe some more driftwood too).

P.S. I can't wait for this project to be done :)
