im so jealous of the drift wood you got your your tank. i have found some great pieces but anything i get leaks tannins like crazy the last one's i brought home leaked for about 4 or 5 months i got sick of doing water changes every 3 days so i took them out. anywhere around here only sells small pieces, so im sad to say but i won't be having that problem :(

i got the plywood for the top today.. its almost 3/4in thick i think 23/32 or something like that for 17bucks. it isnt a good marine grade but it should be fine i have plenty of LR left over so ill just dump it on and smooth it out, then i wont have to worry about it getting wet at all and it should be plenty thick to keep it from bowing. shoul i cut this so it will lay ontop of all my walls and then run the screws down? or should i cut it to fit inside the walls and run the screws in horizontally? BTW as a was leaving lowes a seen something that kind of made me PEEVED!! they had 5 gallon buckets of LR for roofing made by black jack for $32 a bucket. would this have worked the same as my zavlar?

$32 bucks though I think I might have to be the lab rat in the next couple of weeks and build another pond

I dont think it will work. Working at Lowe's I get a chance to go around and read all of the labels on stuff that I think might or might not work. I have looked at that and dont recall why I decided against it I just know I did. If I can remember, I will revisit that container tomorrow. As far as the top, I would cover the top and drive the screws down. Also, if you coat the underside of the top, once you drive those screws in that top is not going to come off. The LR will bond like a big dog! You might actually run a layer of LR around the top of the tanks edge so you get a nice water tight bond.

I don't know... that black jack stuff doesn't sound too bad. Although I have heard that styrene isn't good for fish, I know that several other products that contain stryrene have been used in DIY without any negative affects. This needs to be tested. Because that would be awesome if it works.
