first "real" build 320gal!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Already plan to test it when I have some time. I'm going to be building another pond in my home office instead of my lobster tank.

what is everyone's thoughts on painting a layer of rubber on the outside of the tank. just incase to keep it from getting wet and the wood getting weak? i am going to finish the tank, stand, and canopy off with either 1x6 going horizontally or something really thin like fermica (counter top stuff). so i will either want to seal the wood off with rubber or a polyureathane right?

pictures speak for themself on this one but it will be ready to fill up when you get here josh :headbang2..............

Sweet looking forward to it Sunday.

what you be the down side to painting it? i still have plenty of rubber left. and would rather use it all up than let it go to waste. and would rather not have the wood get wet ya know. would a coat of lacker or oil base paint be a better option? and should i paint my new top with the rubber?

sunday will hopefully be a good day

I wouldn't paint the outside because then if there's a leak on the inside, how would you know? Your wood would rot away before it penetrated the outer layer on the tank.

Well, I guess it would be alright to paint it, because if there were a leak, the paint would bubble. Many people stain theirs which is like paint, so I would go for it. What color are you going to paint it? Pink with purple polka dots are *always* fashionable.
