Used seachem stability on my 125g community and it worked great. Cycles the tank while the fish are in it. Just follow the directions and you shouldn't have any issues. Also shake the bottle pretty good and get a good test set to check params. Here's a good thread that talks about it.

A step up from Prime is Safe also made from Seachem. It's the pretty much the same product but the Safe is in powder form and much cheaper down the road. Great info on the sticky below.

As for oscars, IMHO they are a messy fish and a 55 is small for my taste for a full grown oscar. I like my fish to have a lot of swimming room. Not saying it cant be done, its not for me. Plus you got to maintain that much more cause they are just plain dirty. Whatever you go with, just remember, water changes is your friend.
